we drove for a little, while crossing the Arkansas river several times
we came to petit jean state park which is a beautiful plateau with a vast canyon and great views. we first stopped at a small lookout spot to get a view of the area. then we drove to the epic Mather's lodge which opened to the face of the canyon. we had lunch there and then started our hike down to the base of cedar falls:
cedar falls is a 90 ft. tall waterfall that falls through a giant carved bowl of rock. it is quite a sight to see:
after cedar falls we went to bear cave which was located in one of several very large rocks which overlooked the canyon. bear cave:
we drove away from petit jean and went to a comfort inn in clarksville Arkansas.
we had some disgusting Wendy's that night and also saw a massive massacre of millions of mayflies.

Petit Jean is one of our favorite parks! Did you climb up on top of the rocks at the Bear Cave Trail? One of them even has footholds carved right into the rock.
